James Halliday’s 2017 Wine Companion landed on our desk this week, and this is what the revered wine-buff had to say about our 2014 Margaret River cabernet sauvignon and 2014 Pemberton pinot noir…
Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon 2014
It has the heft, the style, the length. It tastes of blackcurrant, dark chocolate and bay leaves and feels powerful throughout. Finesse is not one of its strong points, but there’s a whole lot else it offers. 92 points.
Pemberton Pinot Noir 2014
Tang, perfume, varietal character and a bit of interest; this hits the sweet spot from a range of angles. It doesn’t have the length of the best pinots but it has just about everything else. Well worth a try. 91 points.
