TROPHY: Best 2020 Dry White Wine of the Show
2020 Swan Valley Wine Show

“Hard to go past this variety as a ready-to-drink, thirst- quenching refresher for summer.
This one gets it right yet again; tropical fruit, with a crunchy fresh acidity lifting through to its finish.
Delish. Look out for the 2018 in another month or so.” 89/100

The Maritime influences at the Tuart Block Carabooda, have contributed in producing a full flavoured but soft chenin blanc.  The limestone based soils are a major contributing factor in producing wines of clean, fresh acidity on our vineyard which is entirely spur-pruned and hand harvested.

Fruit for this wine was entirely hand-picked in the cool of the morning to ensure we captured the maximum fruit freshness of chenin blanc.  Following record summer rainfall, a quick decision was made to harvest all the chenin blanc to retain its clean fresh flavours.

Fruit was crushed, de-stemmed and drained with only the finest free-run juice used in the blend.  Cold settled and fermented cool in stainless steel before blending and bottling, the wine spent 6 weeks on lees before fining which adds weight to the middle palate.

The bouquet exhibits lifted tropical fruit flavours with hints of apricot and peachy aromatics.

The generous round palate is enhanced by fresh natural acidity and a long clean finish.

A perfect accompaniment to a warm summer afternoon, this wine is ideally suited to Mediterranean dishes, a traditional antipasto plate, fresh natural oysters or grilled seafood/chicken.

This wine will develop further complexity in the medium term.

The areas around Perth make many of the best chenin blancs in Australia (some will say this is an oxymoron), and only Coriole stands tall in competition. This has remarkable intensity and fruit freshness; stone and tropical fruits have zesty citrussy acidity to enliven the finish and aftertaste. Rating: 92 points Cellaring: to 2021.
