ESTATE VARIETALS
Our estate varietals, including fortified and sparkling wines, are made from the highest quality, low-yielding & hand-picked fruit grown at our family vineyards located along Perth’s Swan Coastal strip, in addition to selected growers.
Each vineyard site was carefully chosen due to excellent maritime conditions and fertile Tuart-over-limestone soils which contribute to wines of superior natural acidity and balance.
Our Carabooda vineyard, established in 1980, is planted with chenin blanc, shiraz, tempranillo, cabernet sauvignon and muscat.
The homestead Woodvale vineyard (pictured) which borders Yellagonga Regional Park, was established in 1927, and although there is less evidence of sprawling vineyards today, we are excited about a small plot of Nero d’avola which has matured exceptionally well in our hot dry summers.
Paul was the first West Australian vigneron to bring Nero d’avola graftings into the State – consequentially planting the vines and producing wine from this hardy variety. Known as “the most important red wine of Sicily”, Nero d’avola is a light, medium-bodied red which pairs beautifully with rustic Mediterranean cuisine .
Medici Ridge
The Medici Ridge range is an extension of our premium stable.
Its discerning difference is that fruit is soured from external growers based in the cool climate of WA’s South West region (approx. 3.5 hours south of Perth).
Wines within the range include shiraz and merlot which exhibit regional influences unique to the area.
Each of the low-yielding, non-irrigated vineyards has been carefully selected for this reason.
We initially created the range exclusively for our cellar door customers and export markets, all with the intention of showcasing the best of WA outside our estate vineyards.
Consistent with all our wines, the range represents unique regional qualities via two contemporary and modern wine styles.
